You Need More than a Message for Your Medium

Read Time:58 Second

Having a webcam, video camcorder, a telephone and a computer does not, and I repeat, does not, make you qualified to be a talk show host.

With the emergence of BlogTalk Radio, YouTube and other internet sites, anyone can have a voice to say whatever they want whenever they want.  The problem is too many people are not adequately prepared to deliver a message to others.

You don’t have to be a professional journalist to have a mic, but you must be willing to learn the right ways and wrongs ways of broadcasting your message.

WRONG WAY:  Saying whatever you feel.

RIGHT WAY:  Being organized with an outline/script

WRONG WAY:  Sounding like you’re reading

RIGHT WAY:  Learning the techniques of extemporaneous speaking

WRONG WAY:  Asking to many “long-winded” questions

RIGHT WAY:  Learn how to ask pointed, direct questions without commentary

WRONG WAY FOR TV:  Not respecting the camera (or webcam)

RIGHT WAY FOR TV:  Make sure your video presence is pleasing to the eye with the right background and overall appearance.

Remember, you may be getting views and listeners but maybe they’re doing so to learn what not to do.
