Should Sexy Stop at 60?

Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

I just read an interesting article in The Daily Tarheel called Sex and the Older Woman.  The author asks the question “Should sexy stop at 60?”  He then goes on to share the findings of a study conducted in 2009, which indicates nearly half of the women polled said they were having sex and loving it.

It seems as though everyone has an opinion or has conducted some type of study to determine what middle-aged women are feeling and the reasons why.  Why does it matter what 50 or 60-year-old women are thinking about when it comes to sex?  How does knowing the number of times I get it on with my husband in a week or month going to determine if I’m still qualified to be considered sexy?  Maybe no other man is capable of doing what my husband can.

Once again, I believe this is the media’s way of trying to convince us that 50 is the new 30 so we can throw caution to the wind and behave like we did 20 and 30 years ago—well, some of us anyway.

Have you ever stopped to think what is sexy and what isn’t? It goes beyond age, attractiveness and the bedroom.  At one time fat was considered sexy because it was a sign of wealth.  If you were fat, that meant you could afford food.  But try asking how many men today are interested in a 60-year-old, fat, woman with no money and see what kind of response you get?
Sexy, like everything else, is a state of mind.  Some women have natural sex appeal.  Some have to work at it.  Then you have some who could take it or leave it.
Personally, I think we should conduct a male survey asking the all-important question:  Can middle-aged men still be sexy without viagra?

  1. I’d have to say that it’s a ridiculous statement that anyone should stop being sexy at any age. Now, what someone considers sexy is another topic of course, but have people seen Raquel Welch these days? She just turned 70 and looks fabulous.

Nope, a moronic statement at best.

  2. Yes–Raquel still looks fabulous but how much “help” has she had. I still believe sexy, as we grow older, is generated more from the inside out. Beauty will over time–that why you should let that “inner glow” shine like platinum.
